The Bilsdale point-to-point takes place at Rising Sun Farm, Easingwold on Sunday 12th May. A total of 53 entries have been received. Once again The Bilsdale Air Ambulance Donkey Derby takes place at 1pm and will entertain spectators before the main action begins at 2pm with the Hunt Race. Public admission is £12.50 per adult, under 16s are free. There will be a licensed bar, refreshments and Brymor Ice Cream will also be present. Spectators will also be able to visit a Shopping Village on course, with stands such as Fluffed & Fabulous, La Fille Rouge, Shuttlesocks and more. The postcode for Sat Nav is YO61 3PS.
The opening race is the Hunt Members race and with four entries it looks between two of them, Forgivienne returned from a lengthy absence to show up well for a long way last time but appeared to get very tired in the closing stages and should of improved for that effort, whilst French Seventyfive looked to benefit from a change of scenery and has now joined Bella Sowray, his second to Ballinahow Bill looks the stand out form and should take the beating here. Impulsive Act will appreciate any cut in the ground and Bellringer despite not looking all that in love with the game probably would not be good enough to trouble the leaders. The second race is a Conditions race for horses who have not won under rules, two stand out here and that is Bucks Dancing and Matts Commission, however they are both on a bit of a recovery mission, the latter was a well held second behind Sposalizio last time out and Bucks Dancing doesn’t look to enjoy regulation fences and performed well below par in the Heart Of All England and it is hoped that a return to pointing will see him perform at his best. Templepoint took a big step forward at the Pendle meeting and this will require another step up, No Secondchance has been consistent all season, whilst McMurphy looks most effective on a quick surface but does look to have a liking for this track. The Mens Open holds only ten entries and this would be a tougher task for Matts Commission, Sposalizio was well beaten at Witton Castle behind Dark Mahler, Marthas Benefit has to shoulder a significant penalty and the same can be said for the other mare Wizadora who also has a sizeable weight to carry and would be contesting for the fourth weekend in a row. Streets Of Milan looks to stay extra well and may find this track on the sharp side, whilst track specialist Six A Side carried a loft weight to success at Sheriff Hutton where he had Wizadora and two other subsequent winners behind him. The likely winner could come from Cup Final who was a close third after a long break behind Path To Freedom and Marcus Haigh’s 5lb claim should come in useful.Selection – Cup Final
The Ladies Open is of similar quality with two top recruits potentially taking part, Seafood was formerly useful when with Richard Newland and was an easy winner of a hunter chase at Leicester and subsequently came to grief in the Aintree Foxhunters, also from the Justin Landy stable is Meldrum Lad who is three from three this season but will have a 12lb penalty to shoulder. Six A Side also has the option of this race, Major Ridge has gone from strength to strength with his new yard but may find one to strong here, whilst Oscar O’scar is another who got off the mark in points at the Pendle and can again go well for Kate Lowcock who may also have the option of Wizadora who was a tenacious winner at Witton Castle on Monday. Sorcier is an open winner this season but is another likely to be playing for a place at the age of 13. Selection – Seafood
The Restricted could see another win for Erica’s Dream who clearly has a liking for this track and although the maiden she won last time was a weak event is likely to go well again. Secret Pattern was a lucky winner here last time, Impulsive Act would be best on a soft surface, whilst Starlight Court has been placed on a couple of occasions already this year and can go well. The likely winner could come from Dressedforsuccess, his early maiden form looks good and got off the mark last time, and he looks lightly raced and can progress further. The final race is the Open Maiden and there is plenty of recent form to make this an interesting race, Smart Seb improved nicely to finish second at the Pendle, both Goody Hallett and Good Rhythm both have been placed at this track with the latter finishing second here last time, whilst the Pete Fahey contingent seem to be getting in to the swing now with Euro Fou finishing third on Monday and will no doubt have befitted for that experience. Canizay showed up very well for a long way here last time and was only collared in the closing stages so it is likely he will go close once again, but perhaps the one who would be worth siding with is Epson Roque, trained by Roger Marley he will of no doubt improved for his debut effort and the yard will no doubt be expecting a big run.Selection – Epson Roque
